Free and Legal Images for your Class

Your students are hard at work accessing sites on the Internet and using the images they find for their PowerPoint or Publisher documents. Great, right? Wrong. There’s a lot that goes into properly citing images, but we’ll save that for another post.

The alternative? Use Pics4learning, which is a copyright friendly site that provides teachers and students with thousands of free images to use. This is educational technology. Sometimes teachers can’t control the images that come up on google images. The images on pics4learning have been donated by teachers, students, and amateur photographers.

The good: Permission has been given to teachers and students to use all the images– no need for citations. It’s free.

The bad: There’s a limited amount of images, so don’t expect thousands of images per search as you would with Google Images. Also, the searches are not the most accurate.  We suggest using the browse by topic feature or the searchbox.

This review as well as others can be found on our TIC Recommends page.
